Alrighty, just thought I’d throw that out there since I’ve got a vial hanging around.

The default AA% for Tettnang in Beersmith is 4.8. The leaf Tettnang at H&B is rated at 7.9%. May want to adjust accordingly to stay within style guidelines for a Strong Golden.

Hallertaur at H&B is 3.3%, which is less than the default in BS.

Brewed a “yeast starter” batch Saturday using the Belgian Strong Ale strain. 6.5 lbs of 2 row, 4 oz torrified wheat, 0.25 oz tettnang (7.9 AA) x 60; 0.25 oz Hallertauer (3.3 AA) 60 min; 0.25 oz tettnang x 25 min; 0.25 oz Hallertauer x 25 min. OG 1.044. Est IBU ~ 30.

Should end up with about a liter of slurry by next weekend which should be enough to split with someone if needed. Plan to brew the big boy next Fri or Sat.

    Brewed tonight. 5.5 gallons.

I installed a new dip tube and hop filter that affected my efficiency. My OG was only 1.061. I’ll add a lb of honey a day or two into primary. @kc0dhb any recommendations for which kind?

I’m partial to orange blossom or Colorado wildflower. Try to use a light colored honey. Any fruity monoflora source like raspberry or blackberry Would be good as Errol. anything that accentuates the fruity or estery is good.

Just was wondering about an update to this project. When are we putting this beer into the barrel?

I have the barrel. Just waiting to know if everyone has brewed and done fermenting. Also, if anyone brewed 10G that would be good to know, we may need it.

I’m tentatively planning on next weekend 7/6 or 7/7, if all is brewed.

    Kyle: 10G brewed
    Chris Osborn: 5G brewed
    Jesse McConnell: 5G brewed

Next weekend works well for me. I’m putting my batch into secondary today.

My portion is done and waiting in secondary. Next weekend will work for me as long as it is on the 7th as I am in Denver on the 6 for my cousins wedding. Let me know if I need to take my fermenter to somebody else if the 6th works better for everyone else.

I added 22 oz of honey Sunday morning and roused the yeast (without aeration) and still have a steady fermentation. I could rack on Thursday which would probably speed things along, but may end up with some sediment.

I have 5 gallons ready to go. It hit FG of 1.010 and tastes quite delicious!

Sorry I haven’t gotten back to you sooner Kyle- it’s been a hectic week- We brewed on 6/23 and just racked to secondary today. We were on point shy of target gravity @ 1.074, and have a gravity of 1.011. As Dave said, tastes pretty good and smells on point. Will be ready this weekend if everyone else is.
