Meetings & Events

Monthly Meetings

The Liquid Poets hold a general meeting the first Thursday of each month, rotating locations at various Fort Collins breweries. We always welcome new faces whether you have been brewing for years or are just interested in what it’s all about. Meetings consist of announcements, sharing of homebrews, brewing discussion, and socializing. We usually have a mystery growler or a People’s Choice prize to test everyone’s tasting skills. We look forward to seeing you there!

Education Group

This group meets monthly on the third Thursday to dive into a wide variety of brewing topics, all the things that go into brewing. The club’s goal is to learn and to help members make our fermented beverages better, and help those seeking to get BJCP certification in a fun way.

Big Brew Day

First weekend in May, homebrew clubs all around the nation gather in backyards/parking lots/wherever to brew in each others company. We meet and brew and have the grills and taps active. Past totals have been close to 300 gal brewed in one day! All welcome if you are brewing or not.

Summer BBQ

Summer has long been a great time for us poets to get together with friends and family. We arrange kegs, yard games, and pot luck and enjoy the community we are building.

Poetry Slam Homebrew Contest

This is our main event. First held in spring 2008, and transitioned to fall (mid October), we now have nearly 300 entries in ~25 categories judged by 60 judges and stewards over 4 sessions/2 day at New Belgium Brewery. 2019 had 17 Pro-Am opportunities for medal winners and is evolving every year. Historically, one dollar of each entry has been donated to a local charity. Find info or register to enter/judge/steward Poetry Slam or other contests at www.reggiebeer.com

Turkey Drive with the Weiz Guys

Starting November 2018, Loveland’s Weiz Guys Homebrew Club have collaborated on the a turkey drive. We contact breweries to offer ‘Beer For Turkey’ drop off points where the community can get a free beer when they drop off a frozen turkey for the Larimer Co. Food bank for Thanksgiving meals.

Holiday Party

Holidays are for gathering with friends and family, and this community is no exception. With busy holiday schedules, we have started gathering in early January. We have homebrew on tap and share a meal in addition to a silent auction or drawing for brewery swag, Poets’ brews and fermented products, crafts, and other good with proceeds going to Larimer Co. Food Bank. There is often fun beer games and holiday spice beer samplings but always good times.
